Sympathy
The district family extends sympathy to the family of Patricia King, wife of Rev. Dennis King (Newburgh). Pat passed away May 2 at Indiana University Hospital.
Patricia and Dennis were married for 39 years and served together in ministry for 35 years. Other survivors include her mother, Lorene Reinitz; brother, Wayne Reinitz; sister, Cheryl Rossiter; daughter, Michelle Thomas and husband, Scott; son, Jason King and wife, Shellie; son, Daniel King and wife, Melanie; daughter, Alicia King; and eight grandchildren.
Olivet Nazarene University
1365 Degrees Awarded During Annual commencement Ceremonies
More than 1300 degrees — including a record 521 traditional undergraduate, 174 continuing studies, 19 associate of arts, 650 master’s and one honorary doctorate — were awarded during Olivet Nazarene University’s annual Commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 3. This was the third-largest graduating class in Olivet history.
District Prime Time
The Prime Time Banquets have passed for this year. We had a total of 450 in the three Banquets. We would like to say we have appreciated working in this capacity. This is our last — we are retiring from this position after 8 years. We have enjoyed it so much.
Thanks to Black Buggy for their wonderful food and great service! Thanks to all the churches that hosted the Banquets for us, and those who helped set-up and clean up. Thanks to Chris West who has been our “chauffeur” and helper. She has done a great job! Thanks to all who have been guest speakers or singers for the Banquets ('Open Heart' and 'Circle of Friends' did a great job in our recent Banquets). Thanks to Ted and Louise Lopp who coordinated the trips for us. Thanks to James Hicks for his loyal support and many kind and encouraging words. God bless!

District NMI
Missionary Health Care
May is Missionary Health Care emphasis month. There are four ways you can give to help provide medical care for our missionaries: Memorial Roll, Distinguished Service Award, Gifts from the Heart, and special offerings.
Memorial Roll is a way to honor deceased friends and loved ones. A certificate is issued in the name of the person memorialized. Churches or individuals may place as many names on the Memorial Roll as they desire and those memorialized need not be members of the church. Your NMI president has Memorial Roll forms or they can be obtained on line at www.nazarenemissions.org. The price is $50.00.
Please Note – Any church who has placed a name on the Memorial Roll during this assembly year and wants a picture of the person shown at the District NMI Convention, please send the picture to: Michele Hayes, 740 Sam’s Hill, Nashville, IN 47448 or e-mail her at hayess@wesleyan.org by July 1, 2008.
The Distinguished Service Award (DSA) is a tribute to living church people for their service to the church. The NMI or church may wish to honor someone in the church for their ministry. The DSA may only be given by a church or a group within the church. The price is $100.00.
Please Note – Any church who has given a DSA during this assembly year and wants a picture of the person shown at the District NMI Convention, please send the picture to: Michele Hayes, 740 Sam’s Hill, Nashville, 47448 or e-mail her at hayess@wesleyan.org. Make sure the picture is marked DSA.
Gifts from the Heart is a method of honoring and/or memorializing friends and loved ones and may be presented by an individual, a group, or a church. The price is determined by the donor.
Every Church Should Take an Offering during the month of May for Missionary Health Care.
June Emphasis - World Mission Radio
Each church should have received promotional material from Kansas City to help you emphasize the importance of the World Mission Radio offering.
District Goal – 100% participation.
